5 weeks and one day,

Prince with a chew toy that "auntie" Karen has sent for the puppies
Sometimes when I go about doing things in the house and one of the pups is awake while everybody else is asleep I take that one pup out and let it hang out with me, here is Panda in the bathroom with me while I was getting dressed, brush teeth etc.
Tinka is in explorer mode, we had some future puppy parents visit on Saturday and on Sunday one of my neighbor's came by to meet the puppies, it is interesting to see how the puppies respond to new people, Tinka and Samantha usually are a little slower to investigate than the rest, but today when my neighbor came over Samantha was one of the first ones to come over and she wagged her tail and was very happy to meet another stranger, so I think that it takes quite some time of daily observations to get a good idea of each puppy's temperament. When I get inquiries about puppies I had several people who seemed to think it was odd that they could not come and pick the puppy they wanted. I always explain to people that I spend a lot of time with these puppies and I know them best and therefore it is a lot better if I match a puppy to the individual person. A lot of times people think that there isn't all that much difference in temperament and that it's all about "how you raise them". I really disagree with that, each puppy is born with an individual personality and it is pretty obvious early on in a puppy's life that each of them is different, how they are being raised cannot change that. It is important how they are being raised to bring out the best in them, but one cannot change the basic personality a puppy was born with.

A few days ago I caught Leydi walking around their pen whining and having something in her mouth, at first I asked her what she had "stolen" now, but then I noticed it was a raw chicken leg that I had given her earlier, she brought it in for her puppies to eat, when she dropped it they all went for it, even when they had never seen any raw meat before, they knew what it was and what to do with it. It took them a few hours the first time to work the meat off the bone, but just a few days later they have no problems eating a drumstick in a fairly short amount of time, they don't eat all the bone yet, so I am not giving them too much of it yet because I don't want them not to get enough calcium.

Grizzly
Cici and Teddy, all the puppies are such wonderful little beings, I have made a promise to them that I will do the best I can to place them into homes where they will be loved and cherished for the rest of their lives, but I have also made a promise to them that I will be there for them for the rest of their lives if they ever need me. There will always be a place for them here.
