4 weeks and 2 days,
after the puppies were finished eating we took them outside as temps were around 65, but by the time we had carried them outside one at a time, the wind had really picked up and the puppies weren't happy about it. Much to my surprise most of them started climbing up the stairs to get back inside. Now how they knew anything about stairs and how to get inside is a mystery to me since the two times I have taken them out I have carried them.

Dottie already made it inside
Initially I closed the door because is didn't want them to go inside, but then I figured that was pretty dumb of me to impede their learning, if these puppies are smart enough to figure out how to get out of the wind, that is really amazing.

Hard to tell who has more fun, Debbie or the puppies
Karen who will be getting a puppy from this litter has sent us a big box of puppy toys, she did a great job picking toys the pups would love, this one uses a matereal in flower parts that makes a noise like crumpling cellophan, the puppies were thrilled with it and everybody took turn dragging it around and chewing it.
the puppies were quite curious to meet Wendy who is Debbie's 1 year old Airedale puppy. Wendy will come back to visit soon so she can play with the pups.
today we had our first socialization visit from my friend Deb who is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer. I timed the visit so when she comes it was feeding time for the puppies. That way they can make a good association with a visitor - food. We sat in the pen with the puppies while they were eating, another important lesson - it's okay for people to be around while the pups are eating and it's okay if somebody touches a puppy while eating. I always put out more food than what they are going to eat right away, I prefer it if they don't have to compete over food.
Prince really impressed me, because he climbed up, went inside and then plopped down right in the door so he could overlook everything from his spot. What a cool little puppy he is.
