I caught Leydi napping in her brand new dog house this afternoon. A few days ago when I saw her digging around in the mattress and blankets I took them out and put a thick layer of nice clean straw in there. She thinks it's fabulous and makes herself comfortable in there.
When I went back a little later she was resting on her back and that's how she stayed for quite some time. So I went and got my stethoscope again and listened to little heartbeats all over her belly and flanks, my guess is that there are at least 10 puppies in there, probably more, but I am no expert with this. I am just hoping that they all make it outside okay.
Last picture shows her belly up, she seemed quite pleased with that position. Temp has dropped from over 100 degrees during the day to 98.8 at around 4 pm, I will check her again around 7 pm to see if it has continued to drop. I am boiling chicken legs and pig feet as I am typing this. Not only should the meat entice her to eat a little here and there, when one cooks chicken legs and pig feet the liquid turns gelatinous when it is cold, it's a little trick to get some fluid into a dog if they don't feel like drinking, they will usually take the gelatin and if they really refuse one can pop it into their throat like a pill, safer than forcing something liquid.

Leydi is very cute pregnant girl. Hope her labor is good and no problems arise; just healthy puppies!
