6 days old,

Red girl, or as I call her "little red ridinghood". She is a snuggler, she has now come to me and crawled into my hand and up my arm several times, so it's not coincidence, she seems to like to be petted. She is the littlest of the bunch at this time, we will see if she catches up. Well, somebody has to be the smallest, right?

white collar girl's nose

I think this is pink girl, formerly known as bright yellow girl, checking to see if maybe there is a nipple on mom's neck and she could get a drink without competition by climbing on top of the blanket behind mom's head. I think these are some very precocious little pups already, this will be quite interesting when they get really mobile.
yellow dot girl, she and yellow girl are the biggest ones so far

yellow girl's nose, I am finding it still very difficult to ID some of the pups after taking a picture

blue boy or as I call him "Bluey" feeling adventurous, he has done this twice today, digging under the blanket on the side and then poking out from farther down, seems like he is ready to explore the world, watch out when his eyes open. Actually this weekend I am going to set up their indoor play area in my room with an x-pen. Using existing walls and a piece of shelving as an entry for Leydi, I should be able to put together a nice sized area for them. This will be fun to set this up, I had originally planned to leave them in the same room where the whelping box is now, but I rather have them closer to the action once they can hear and see, so they can hear the washer and dishwasher, TV etc.
green boy looking so handsome
green boy, his tail tip is actually very dark

Yellow dot girl nose and chin today, some of the nails have a little black in them too and the pads also have some darker spots

seems like as the ears grow they tend to stand up easily depending on the position of the puppy.
I have taken off all the collars, I was so pleased with the velcro collars at first, but they were too stiff and several of the pups have suffered some chafing of their skin under the chin and on their upper legs. For now I have put some nail polish in the color of the collars they had on two of the toes on their right rear foot on the pups that are harder to identify. I also sat down the last two days and have carefully charted each puppy's white markings in their records. Collars are just so dangerous, it's just too easy for a pup to get a leg caught in another puppy's collar and all it takes is a twisting motion to cut the puppy's air off. So for now I will go with the nail polish and hopefully soon I will have them all figured out anyway.
